2017 Alumnus of the Year
Pastor James Ford, Jr. named Alumnus of the Year
Pastor James Ford Jr., a 1984 graduate of Moody Bible Institute and senior pastor of Christ Bible Church in Chicago, was named the 2017 Alumnus of the Year by Moody’s Alumni Association.
The award was given at The Moody Church during the evening session of Moody’s Founder’s Week conference on Tuesday, Feb. 7. The annual award honors a graduate who has “demonstrated loyalty to the kingdom of Christ through honorable character, ardent service and accountability to the Word of God.”
“Pastor Ford’s life and preaching has had a profound effect on many,” said Nancy Hastings, who presented him with the award. Hastings serves as the executive director of Moody’s Alumni Association. “Not only does his church benefit from his knowledge, but also the Church at large through his deep, rich voice heard over the radio and through his publishing ministry. I am always amazed by his ability to recall memorized Scripture and the creativity he incorporates into his sermons.” Hastings added, “Our alumni serve the Lord in many ways, and I am inspired by the way pastor Ford is living out the call of God on his life.”
Training for His Calling
In addition to being a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, he completed his master's degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.
